ATTENTION:

Smart devices are prohibited from event testing rooms:  students may not compete while wearing smart watches or smart glasses.  Students should not have their phones on them during tests.  It is up to the students to ensure they are in compliance -- best not to wear these devices to the tournament at all.

Please remember that at tournament, some homerooms are shared.  Be courteous to other teams in your area.  Clean-up the room when you are finished.  Don't leave items unattended in homerooms, as the University is a public space, open to all.  All teams must be out of their homerooms by 4PM so custodial staff can access the rooms - don't leave anything behind.
Once events have ended, but before the awards ceremony, students may attend a science themed program provided by Wayne State University.

Public Safety phone number is (313)577-2222.  This is the equivalent of 911 on campus.

Teams will have assigned seating at the awards ceremony to make sure there is room for everyone.  Parents may sit in the unassigned rows at the back if there is not enough room with your team.  click for the seating chart here

REMINDER:
a recent feature has been added to Regionals.  If a pair of students wins an event (1st place), but belongs to a team that did not qualify for States, that pair of students (plus an adult chaperone) will be invited to States to compete in their event, for a chance to medal at States as well!  So hardworking students on small teams have a chance for some personal success!
Grading, scores, and awards is on its own page (see menu above under "MORE....")

Parking on Campus: use the garage at 61 Putnam Street
Parents may enter through the first two driveways of the parking area - a credit card is needed to enter/exit; you will be charged a flat rate of $8.50 for the day (if you exit and re-enter you will be charged again).
Event Supervisors ONLY may enter the third driveway of the parking area, reserved for visitors.  Take the green ticket and bring it to tournament headquarters to be validated.

2025 Tournament Info

IMPORTANT:   MANY EVENTS REQUIRE LAB COATS AND/OR SAFETY GOGGLES OR SAFETY GLASSES.  This includes Experimental Design.  IT IS THE TEAM'S RESPONSIBILITY TO BRING THESE ITEMS TO THE EVENT.  ALL LAB EVENTS HAVE THIS REQUIREMENT!  IF AN EVENT REQUIRES SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND YOUR STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE IT, THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN THAT EVENT.  Be sure to check the official rules for the safety requirements on all the events.

Tournament day activities

Wayne State will once again be offering planetarium shows in the afternoon before the awards ceremony.  Due to fire codes, no more than 60 students may attend each show.  Coaches will be able to select a time slot for their team during self-schedule, and tickets will be provided in the headcoaches' packets

Some important things to know:
1.  Wayne State is a public university - buildings are open to visitors during the day, plus they will be hosting an open house the weekend of the tournament : do not leave valuables unattended in homerooms.  We recommend each team have a homeroom parent to remain in the room at all times.
2.  Teams will need to clean up their homerooms and vacate them by 3:45 PM.  All trash must be collected into the provided bags which may be left just outside the room when clean-up is done.  The awards auditorium and adjacent lounge will be available to teams at that time.
3.  Wayne State will be offering a variety of tours and activities in the afternoon before the awards ceremony.
4.  At the awards ceremony (held at 100 General Lectures; 5045 Anthony Wayne Drive) the center rows for students and the head coach will be labelled by team.  Please sit in your assigned row(s).  Parents and volunteers may sit anywhere in the side wings of seats.
5.
Public Safety phone number is (313)577-2222.  This is the equivalent of 911 on campus.
